HINAKO DAIGO
Has your journey been good? Has it been worthwhile?
Hinako Daigo is the eldest daughter of a Hingan shrine priest and a Doman warrior, born in a village of the Yanxian mountains. She came to serve the local temple shrine under her grandfather's tutelage and, in absence of her mother, succeed him as high priest upon his passing. She along with her peers, however, were forced to flee after Doma's failed rebellion, when the village was to be beset by Garlemald's Imperial legion. They joined other refugees on a path that would lead them to Eorzea's shores. There, Hinako sought to use her talents to help their people as much as her own.No matter where she is, Hinako has kept her life closer than most to the kami, her native elemental gods. To that end, she is an accomplished mage and healer with a high perception of the flow of aether (qi) within and without. Hinako is a warm, kind young woman possessed of a brimming, noble heart with few grievances against her fellow man. It is perhaps as such that she fell in love with a shinobi of Doma, Mozu Torioi, and yearns to do right by her. With Doma's freedom secured, Hinako has joined the Riskbreakers, an independent company of fighters with a vested interest in the liberation of further provinces from the tyranny of the Garlean Empire.

In-depth Hooks
Shinkan - Hinako is a shrine priestess, above all else, and at one point was deemed the high priest and master of her temple-shrine. She is a steward of the kami formally called a shinkan, whose discipline in magic is built off of an Othardian syncretic art known as shugendo. Drawing from the qi (aether) of nature, these magicks are noted for the potential to bless, purify, cleanse and heal. Further notable is the power to weave wards and barriers, link with hidden facets of reality, thus methodically drawing in to bind and banish corrupt forces. While the practice is wont to vary on a regional basis, shinkan regularly commit to the day-to-day traditions associated with Far Eastern priests, but also as shinkan take a more active approach on affairs. At various points in history they have been regarded as shamans, medics, exorcists and even demon-hunters. She is one to get along with individuals of similar practices.
To learn more about the intricacies of Othardian shugendo and shinkan-style magic, you may read about it here.
Yukai - Hinako, per her training and talents, is sensitive to the vibrations of the spirit and worlds unseen, recognizing fluxes and irregularities in qi, the varying spiritual natures of individuals, and most keenly of all the "otherworld" or yukai. It follows that she is well experienced with the supernatural, and is willing to earnestly get along with any manner of otherworldly, like the kami, mononoke or auspices, but will also do what she has to do if faced with aggression or malevolence. She would rather placate if she can.
Iwamura - North of Doma proper, Hinako lived in this mountain village at the base of the towering Mount Tiandi, which coupled with its jinguu-ji (temple-shrine) was once a crossroads for travelers and traders and oddly notable for its tapirs - up until the fall of Doma, and before then she would often travel across the region to do her work as a shinkan. Now that Doma is free she returns to the land once more. Perhaps you have heard of her, have even crossed paths with her before or are from a town neighboring Iwamura, be it Kibo - Iwa's sister village across Lake Yun - or elsewhere. You can have even visited Iwa and its temple or even lived there if it suits you. Regardless, Hinako is always happy to meet a fellow Othardian, refugee or otherwise.
The Daigo clan - Citizens of Hingashi, especially among the nobility, may recognize the name Daigo as one of the land’s venerable clans (and their crest which embellishes the bottom of this carrd), one of warriors and priests both that rose to prominence during the civil war. Hinako has held no intimate ties to said clan, as her grandfather - its former lord and patriarch - severed most ties with the clan before settling in Iwa before her birth. Her younger sister, Kanako, did reside with them for a brief period before leaving for Yanxia's remote monasteries - against the wishes of the aging patriarch of the time Yorinaga, who wished to pass the reins back to the late Morimoto's bloodline in his twilight. This could place Hinako as the clan's rightful heir, but in her and Kana's absence it is Yorinaga's son Kagetora who leads, with his Miqo'te friend and confidant Misuzu Kurenai often at his side.
Healer in Need - Having journeyed out of desperation to Aldenard, Hinako has spent a significant amount of time continuing her work as a traveling healer and exorcist under the pretenses of adventuring by Eorzean standards: having initially embarked on a journey through La Noscea, Thanalan, the Shroud, Coerthas and Mor Dhona along with her peers. From the rapport she built, she eventually volunteered herself for the Riskbreakers. It stands that when she can be found in the west that she can be reached for anything she had been known for in the east, be it as a career healer, to purge ashkin or otherwise.
